How are unspecified donations used?
When making a donation to 1000 Voices, donors are encouraged to nominate a specific project or initiative where available. However, if a donation is received without a designated purpose, 1000 Voices will allocate those funds in alignment with our mission, approved projects and current priorities.
For general donations under $500 where no specific allocation has been requested, 1000 Voices may direct funds to areas where they can have the greatest impact.

For unspecified donations of $500 or more, we will seek to engage with the donor to discuss available opportunities and determine an appropriate allocation from current projects or initiatives. This approach allows us to honour donor intent while ensuring funds can be directed responsibly to areas of genuine need and opportunity.

 

Can I choose where my donation goes?
Yes. Where possible, donors can nominate a specific project or initiative they would like to support.
We believe generosity is most meaningful when donors understand the purpose their giving supports. We provide information and updates about the projects and partnerships we support so donors can see how their contributions are contributing to lasting impact.
Where a nominated project has already received sufficient funding, or circumstances change, we may contact the donor to discuss alternative options. If we are unable to contact the donor, funds may be redirected to a similar purpose or an area of greatest current need, in line with our commitment to responsible stewardship.

 

What happens if a project receives more funding than needed?
Our goal is to direct funds where they can have the greatest impact. Occasionally, a project may receive more funding than is immediately required, or circumstances may change. 

In these situations, 1000 Voices will seek to use funds in a way that remains consistent with the original purpose of the donation and supports our broader mission. 

Where practical and appropriate, we will communicate with donors regarding significant changes to the intended use of their donation.

 

How much of my donation reaches our partners?
1000 Voices is committed to responsible stewardship of every donation received. 

A 7% partnership fee is applied to donations processed through 1000 Voices. This contributes towards the essential costs of responsibly managing partnerships, including administration, governance, compliance, financial systems, reporting and the processes required to ensure funds are transferred and managed appropriately. 

The remaining 93% is directed towards the nominated project or partnership purpose. Our approach is designed to maintain transparency while ensuring we have the systems and capacity needed to support sustainable, accountable impact.

 

Can my donation support administration costs?
Yes. Effective administration is essential to responsible charitable work. A portion of donations may contribute towards the systems, governance, compliance and operational support required to ensure projects are managed effectively and sustainably.

Our 7% partnership fee helps cover these essential functions while keeping the majority of donated funds directed towards project outcomes.

 

Can I change or cancel my donation?
Donations made to 1000 Voices are non-refundable, as funds are directed towards supporting our projects, partnerships and organisational activities in alignment with our mission. 

If you have made a recurring donation and your circumstances change, please contact us at any time. We are happy to assist with updating, reducing or cancelling your ongoing donation arrangement.

Are donations tax deductible?
Donations to 1000 Voices may be tax deductible in Australia where eligible.

A tax-deductible receipt will be issued for qualifying donations.

What happens if a project or partnership is no longer able to proceed?
Sometimes circumstances change and a project may no longer be able to proceed as originally planned. Where this occurs, 1000 Voices will seek to redirect funds towards a similar purpose or another initiative aligned with the original intent of the donation and our mission.
Where appropriate and practical, we will communicate significant changes with donors.

 

Can I receive updates about the impact of my donation?
Yes. We value keeping supporters connected with the people, partnerships and projects they help make possible.
Updates are shared through appropriate channels and focus on the progress, outcomes and stories of transformation made possible through partnership.
We are committed to sharing impact in a way that respects the dignity, privacy and ownership of the communities and individuals involved.
